Road to Worlds 2019 – Holocron Changes

September 25, 2019 · by masterluk126

Holocron changes are on the way, and they are significant enough to impact the Worlds meta. The changes are:

+1 BOF to C-3PO
Errata to Wat Tambor, so that his Power Action only works with Red supports
Ewok Warrior and Arena of Death restricted so that you cannot play them together
DDO added to the restricted list, so that you cannot play it with C-3PO
Phasma2 removed from BOF

Road to Worlds 2019 – eJabba/Wat/Sentinel

September 15, 2019 · by masterluk126

Ever since Snoke stepped onto the scene, big villain supports has been a prominent archetype in the Destiny meta. This culminated with the dominance of Snoke/Watto/FOST in the Convergence meta. But with nerfs to Snoke and Watto, and the introduction of Desperate Measures as an easy way to blow up those big supports, there was a question mark as to whether or not these decks would continue to be a force in the meta. We should never have doubted. eJabba/Wat/Sentinel has become the big villain support lineup of choice, and it has seen multiple decks in the top cut of Gen Con, Euros, and Nova. I consider it one of the top 3 decks in the format, and it’s one that should most certainly be included in your gauntlet as you prepare for Worlds!

Megablaster Troopers and the Evolution of the Middle/Middle Pairing

May 7, 2019 · by masterluk126

Before Worlds 2018, support decks and upgrade decks had largely been kept separate. Then the Hyperloops brought out Drive By Shooting, a deck that combined the most efficient vehicles with the most efficient upgrades. Since then, support decks have continued to sprinkle in powerful upgrades (like Handheld Cannon), understanding that the more above the curve cards you can include in your deck, the better. As I’ve been theory crafting Convergence, I’ve noticed that my Middle/Middle decks have trended in a similar direction – they all seemed to be including Megablaster Troopers. We’ve reached a point where a number of the most efficient cards are supports and the pool of good upgrades is shallow. So my thesis is this – for Middle/Middle decks to rise to the top in the current meta, they need to find ways to include powerful supports, while still operating in a way that is different from the traditional 3-wide ramp support decks. The following are 3 examples of how this can be done.

Convergence – Character Tiers

March 30, 2019 · by masterluk126

Another set, and another round of character rankings! In the Convergence version, I’m going to take a little different tack – grouping the characters together, not only based on how good I think they’ll be but also based on what kind of Destiny character they are. Let’s see how it goes!
